MARGARET JURD COLLEGE

Project Details

The college is a Ministry of the Uniting Church of Australia, being a not-for-profit organisation providing care and support to year 9 and 10 students who have been unable to remain in the mainstream education system for a variety of reasons.

In July 2015 the college approached EPM in the hope that EPM might be able to find a more cost-effective way to develop the site while still meeting the requirements of the college. EPM devised a new layout for the site which substantially reduced the probable cost of development. EPM also identified a way to avoid delays from statutory development approvals. The modifications to the site involved a new classroom, new toilet facilities, new outdoor play area, bus parking and the general improvement of the overall amenity of the site. Stage 1 reached Practical Completion in July 2016.

EPM Planning played an important role in guiding the College through the legislative scheme, both existing and draft, governing ‘complying development’. This project is one of many where EPM Planning has been able to save its clients time and money by identifying the optimal approvals pathway.
